10 Easy and Effective Tips to Live Well

  • Hydration: Make the choice to drink more water daily. Proper hydration supports brain health and function.

  • Mindful Eating: When possible, eat with a community when you sit down for a meal. Make the time purposeful and communicate with your loved ones. Avoid eating on the run.

  • Exercise: Even the smallest amount of exercise is helpful, from standing up and taking a walk five minutes out of every hour to doing yoga, Pilates, or playing pickleball for just 15 minutes per day.

  • Protect Gut Health: Better gut health begins with your food and hydration. Avoid unnecessary antibiotics to protect the bowel’s native bacteria.

  • Sleep: Seven to nine hours of sleep every night is recommended but you may need more or do well with less. Listen to your body to determine what is right for you.
  • Breathe: Want to improve your mood and respiratory function? Breathe. Notice how you breathe when you feel stressed. Practice mindful breathing
  • Practice Self Care: Self-care is not selfish. By supporting your health, you are better able to support your family and friends. Make time for activities that sooth and support. Activities like massage, spa treatments, and aromatherapy, are not just luxuries. Take time to read, visit museums, walk in nature.

  • Build Relationships: Focus on healthy connections and healthy relationships and spend less time on electronic devices. Isolation and loneliness contribute to ill health.
  • Spiritual Connection: Spend time meditating or praying. Both can promote reflection and positive affirmations.

  • Practice Gratitude: Focus on giving thanks and recognizing the good things around you. Pay it forward to others by giving your time and money if able.
