FDA Investigates Listeria monocytogenes in Ice Cream Products from Blue Bell Creameries

You’ve probably by now seen or heard about this in the news. Although few people have been affected, at least 3 deaths have been connected to this infection. Listeria is a rare but virulent bacteria that can cause classic “food poisoning”, that is diarrhea, fever, chills, muscle aches. Most healthy people can recover uneventfully but some are more susceptible to serious illness- elderly, small children, immune suppressed individuals.
