Weekend Words from Psalm 19

Psalm 19:1-6

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.

3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.

4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.

5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

“no fear in love”- Weekend Words

from 1 John 4:16-21, English Standard Version  Bible

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

We love because he first loved us.

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot  loveGod whom he has not seen.

And his commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

"Putting on Christ" quote from C.S. Lewis

CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS (1898–1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day.”

He is perhaps best known for his book “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and the others in the Chronicles of Narnia series.

His book Mere Christianity is considered  one of the most powerful apologetics of the Christian faith.

Lewis wrote A Grief Observed after his wife died of cancer just a few years after their marriage.

In it he reflects on life, death and faith .

“This is a beautiful and unflinchingly honest record of how even a

stalwart believer can lose all sense of meaning in the universe,

and how he can gradually regain his bearings.”
